![]() ![]() And frankly, in the current game, that republic battleship would beat the pants off of a carrier 9 times out of 10. So yeah, if the hypothetical republic battleship was a carrier that replaced the carrier equipment with outfit space, it would have nearly 2000 tons of outfit space to play with. Overall, the republic carrier is presumably spending at least 1100 tons of "outfit space" on its carrier equipment. I'm pretty sure a more reasonable number would be several times that, but that would run into issues given that the base mass of a carrier is only 910 tons, and much of that is presumably spent on non-carrier-specific equipment. I'm pretty sure 160 tons of equipment (which could again be converted to outfit space) is a very conservative estimate here. ![]() And then deploying fighters also requires carrier-borne equipment for refueling, rearming, and repairing those fighters, along with crew accomodations for the pilots. If we figure combat drones and lances, that's 940 tons of extra "outfit space". Let's call this new ship the Republic Battleship.įirst of all, it can fight with a full complement of fighters and drones aboard and those fighters and drones are apparently fully protected by the carrier's armor and shields, so the spaces where fighters and drones are stored could presumably be used as outfit space if it wasn't a carrier. Like, imagine if the republic replaced the fighter and drone bays on the carrier with weapons emplacements/power cells/etc (read: outfit space).
